Yes, it’s snowing in Dublin right now! Well more like sleet, but I’ll call it snow…

Yeah, so after 2 weeks of nice summer weather in Australia, the weather in Ireland is a just a few degree’s different (like 20!!) Tues 6/2 the temperature was -3 (yes minus 3) to a top temp of 5 degree’s! Wednesday I walked to work and there was snow (well ice/frost, but it had a good bit of cover – if I had my camera handy there would have been photo’s) it was damned cold walking to work! Today Thursday 8/2 it farking rained and was cold and miserable with temps 0-5 degree’s; over night it’s meant to get to -2!
On the more exciting front, going to London next weekend (16-18 Feb) to catch up with Matty and Louise as well as some of the boys from the Syd office, which should be a blast. The 2 weeks later (March 5) I am off to New York – all flights and accom have now been booked and I am officially broke, by the time I went back to Aus and the €2,000 it’s going to cost me just to fly and have accom in New York, I might be having a quiet few months before Wimbledon and tour de Ireland with mum and dad…
That’s it for now!
Ohh yes, one last point, Australian beer > Irish beer; 1) its colder and 2) it taste’s better, I am now going to have to re-acquire the taste of Heineken.

Yeap, I am back in Ireland, so I’ll recap the journey that was…
Flight over wasn’t too bad, aside from not being able to sleep and the only other ‘long haul’ flight I had done was in Business Class, so travelling pleb/cattle class kinda was a let down…. I didn’t finish packing until 12:30am the night before I had to leave and needed to be up at 5am to catch my plane, so I was a little tired, heh. I couldn’t sleep at all on the plane, so I was completly rooted when I arrived.
The entire 2 weeks flew by and I can’t beleive I am sitting in my appartment typing this and contemplating the fact that I am back at work tomorrow (Tues 6 Feb).
Catching up with everyone was a blast, essentially the 2 weeks was a 2 week drink-a-thon with the crowning glory being the BDO (Big Day Out) -> Australia Day marathon session, starting with the BDO, we arrived at Lidcombe Railway Hotel roughly at 11am and started with beers, a quick chicken Snitzel sangga to prepare for the day and then in a cab to BDO – the worst part about the BDO was the FUCKING LINES FOR BEER!!! and you could only buy 2 at a time…. there was one point I lined up for 40mins to get 1 beer (as the other went to my brother) WTF seriously! The highlights of the day though, were (obviously) Tool and Muse, with some suprise packets – noteably; Trivium, The Drones, TZU, Kasabian and the Killers were good Jet were meh! The day finished off with a nice win on the pokies for me and we were home by 4am or there abouts…
Australia Day, up at 10am, at Neil’s place by 11am or so and the drinking starts…. and doesn’t stop until I walked home to mum and dad’s at 6am!! Highlights of the day include the JJJ hottest 100 blasting away, catching up with some people I hadn’t seen in a while, a farken nice BBQ, high stakes poker at 4am and Craig rocking up at 1am after attending a wedding, having drank a few beers and 2 bottles of wine… he was in fine form…
Managed to catch up with the new arrivals in the world, Chelsea – Sutto & Sez’s little one, Abbey – Ben & Linda’s little one plus Bretty and Linda’s young one popped, James, but it was on my last night in Aus so didn’t manage to catch up with him.
Can’t believe how quick the 2 weeks went, yes I know I’ve said that! Next time though, I think I’ll just do an ‘event’ i.e. a day at the races or something like that, catching up with everyone was far too hard and it would be the easiest way I think! I didn’t manage to catch up with everyone I wanted, so for those that I missed, I’ll catch ya next time
Anyways, enough of my ramblings, looking forward to my upcoming trips, New York and Wimbledon, I’ve no idea when I’ll next be back in Aus, one thing’s for sure the weather and beer is better then over here!!
